We are constantly in transition. In a megacity as London it becomes even more visible. The visual culture is a neverending journey of cultural codes. We are living in a hyper reality. A world made up by images, concepts, signs and sounds – which we learnt to interpret collectively in our global culture of signs. In Transition traverse, and pass through an urban, economic, social and cultural space. Real, hyper real and imagined, are all merged and visible. In ‘In transition’ we leave the Hyper Reality behind and enter another kind of reality. What is reality and what is illusion? What is truth and what is simulated?
Sculpture
Cut from the raw heart of Carrara, Italy, this sculpture is carved in its famous white marble – beautiful, unforgiving, and brutally honest. Every strike demanded precision; every mistake would be permanent. This is a material that doesn’t bend – it resists, challenges, and ultimately reveals.
I stepped into that tension under the guidance of master Italian stone sculptors, inheritors of a tradition etched across centuries. For two intense weeks, surrounded by dust, silence, and the weight of history, I worked the stone until it pushed back something real.
This piece is what surfaced from that collision. I call it Totem – a presence carved from pressure, carrying both defiance and memory in its form.
